Internationally recognized, New York based, LUBA LUKOVA is regarded as one of the most distinctive image-makers working today. Whether by using an economy of line, color, and text to pinpoint essential themes of the human condition or to succinctly illustrate social commentary, her work is undeniably powerful and thought provoking. Her solo exhibitions have been held at UNESCO, Paris; La MaMa, New York; DDD Gallery, Osaka, Japan; and The Art Institute of Boston. She has received commissions for her work from The New York Times, Time magazine, Adobe Systems, Sony Music, Harvard University, and the Cultural Ministry of France. Recently publisher Clay & Gold released her critically acclaimed Social Justice poster portfolio, containing visual reactions to many of the pressing issues of our time. The Health Coverage poster, included in the collection, was in a prestigious exhibit at the Inauguration of President Obama in Washington, DC. Lukova's many awards include: Grand Prix Savignac at the International Poster Salon, Paris; the Golden Pencil Award at One Club, New York; ICOGRADA Excellence Award; and Honor Laureate at the International Poster Exhibition, Fort Collins, CO. She received an honorary degree of Doctor of Fine Arts from Lesley University. Her work is in the permanent collections of MoMA, New York; The Library of Congress; and Bibliotheque nationale de France.
