The Adirondack Review
I am Normal and Tall

I am normal and tall
I wonder why the sky is blue
I hear a monster roaring
I see me as a mighty knight
I want a sword

I am normal and tall
I pretend to be a knight
I feel my sword whistling in my hand
I touch the monster's blood
I worry about myself
I cry that I killed a living thing

I am normal and tall
I understand that I killed a living thing
I say a prayer to God
I dream the same dream
I always try to hunt and conquer
I am normal and tall

ROSS WADE lives in Atlanta and is in the third grade. His mom, Laura, submitted I am Normal and Tall to The Adirondack Review on his behalf. "I think it is amazing, but of course, I'm his Mom," she wrote to us. We think it is amazing too.
