TAR
WHAT YOU NEED AIN'T IN WALKILL

The job shoulda been this:
Paradise Girl on Times Square,
buck-fifty for dinner

and a swell pair of legs.
There lays nothin
in these mountains but dead peaks

and smokey entrances.
How a girl gets sidetracked
by the wrong fella

the wrong promise
is not beyond my understandin
somewhere across the Hudson

where skyscrapers stick up
straighter than any evergreen
inchin its way down 87.

Here a girl's got only
the want for sequins
and a mouthful of snow afterwards.
