MICHAEL ERNEST SWEETis a Canadian educator, writer and street photographer. Michael's work prominently features the human fragment—shots of stray arms and legs, hands, feet and other bits and pieces of the human body as seen in our public spaces. His signature high contrast, gritty, monochrome images are all shot in 28mm and up close, very close. He is a national recipient of both the Prime Minister's Award and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in Canada for significant contributions to his country in the field of education and the arts. In 2011, he was selected as a national finalist for a Governor General's Award.
Michael's first published collection of photography is forthcoming in the winter of 2013 from Brooklyn Arts Press. He divides his time between Montreal and New York City.
